The Scherbina's FamilyHere they are - a family of three: two girls and one guy. Their family was officially born on November 4, 1995, when Olya and Oleg had exchanged their vows in front of their friends and relatives in 100-years old Municipal building in a beautiful Odessa city. Exactly two years before, Oleg and Olya went on their first date and spent three hours walking and talking non stop. At that time they both were students of Odessa State Economic University - carving accounting and audit and learning that Constitution of Ukraine along with other Ukrainian legislations were changing over one term of their studies so frequently and fast that made it impossible to pass an exam on Business Law at the end of the year with a help of book/notes they received at the beginning or during the year… This is a reality of the country they lived…the country where their precious daughter was born and raised up to the age of 2.5. Masha takes a huge place in her parents' lives and hearts. She is a unity of all their best qualities and strengths, or at least that is what her parents think and feel, as probably all loving parents do. She brings joy and challenges and fills their day-to-day lives with beautiful and difficult questions about the meanings of Russian words, general "whys" and "whens" and just recently started curious about love and sex. As every child at the age of 6-7, Masha asks 'what does this mean'? The only difference is that, as almost every child of Slavic immigrants in Canada, she speaks Russian at home with her relatives, English with her friends on the playground and French with her classmates at school. The Scherbina's moved to Canada for a better life on March 27, 2001. There are lots of reasons why they decided to do it and Masha future was one of the biggest factors forcing them to do so. Having finished their graduate degree in Economics, (Oleg also got a degree in Business Law) and having worked in a number of companies, they decided to move to a country that could provide them with a freedom, security and fair opportunities, where a hard work, a decent education and ambitions 'to achieve' are well rewarded with a better quality of life. And yes, it is true - they choose Vancouver for its beauty. They were not original in their choice - mountains, ocean, and mild climate attract lots of people who immigrate here. They were lucky enough to meet lots of friends in this country of opportunities and you know how difficult it could be, when you are not 15 any more… All their friends have something in common with Olya and Oleg - they moved here for a better life and they are ready to do what it takes to make their dream comes true. As a family, The Scherbina's share common interests. They love dancing, any outdoor activities and "doing-nothing-drinking-mocha-at-Starbucks-thing". At the same time they have their own 'passions' or if you wish 'comfort zones', - Masha loves drawing and she is totally adorable at acting. Oleg surprises everybody with his profound knowledge in history, geography and current news. He also owes a quite impressive collection of music from any possible music generations or styles. Olga enjoys photography and free style writing. They are very excited learning and discovering new sides of their personalities and they are together because they love each other for simply who they are. |
